Yaz’s Sandwich Shop is a family owned business that serves high quality sandwiches, salads, and wraps, plus a small selection of delicious Mexican food.
All of their food is served with the freshest ingredients. Yaz’s hosts a relaxed, family style feel with friendly staff that make your meal fresh to order.
There is a beautiful outdoor seating area, as well as a few tables inside for dining. You can also grab and go, or place orders via phone. Do make a mental note that Yaz’s is a cash-only establishment. All orders need to be paid for via cash or check – no cards accepted. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem – visitors and residents alike!
Breakers is an absolutely beautiful establishment only about 8 miles north of downtown Indian River in the small village of Topinabee. Known in the area for their succulent all-American food, this is a place you don’t want to miss! They have some fun, adventurous items on their menu such as Coney Cheese Fries, a Bleu Ghost Pizza
(available with a delicious gluten free cauliflower crust) and a Bad Boy Po’Boy, as well as tasty, more traditional options. They also offer a very large selection of adult beverages – including some you’ve probably never heard of before – with several local options. The staff is kind and friendly, and the patio dining experience is unparalleled, with a gorgeous view of the enchanting Mullett Lake.
Pat and Gary’s II is a convenience store located right on S. Straits Hwy (M-27). They sell several different items that you may have forgotten to pack, as well as a small selection of groceries and trinkets. But what really sets Pat and Gary’s II apart is their delicious grinders.
Each grinder is over a foot long and almost 6 inches wide (don’t worry, if this is too much, you can order half a grinder as well), and the best part is – they only cost $13! This is not your average grinder in size or in taste – they are fantastic! They make the food right in front of you, and also offer pizza and a few sides. They do not have an updated website or social media platform, so I have included a picture of their menu here. This is a great place for a quick grab and go on the run.
Bob’s Place is designed to feel like a throwback to simpler times. Located in Alanson (only about a 10 mile jaunt down M-68), it has a very close-knit family feel, and traditional American menu items.
Their spuds are a personal favorite of mine, and one of their featured menu items. Bob’s Place serves both traditional spuds as well as what they call “Irish Skins.” I am drooling just thinking about them! These spuds are crisp potato skins topped with corned beef, kraut, and swiss, and served with thousand island dressing. Bob’s Place offers indoor dining as well as pick up. Their staff is always so friendly – my wife and I haven’t gone here without being greeted by at least 3 or 4 staff members. They really do care about their customers. They even offer gluten free bread substitutes with their sandwich and burger options.
310 Station is built inside of a retired train station, making the ambiance extremely cool and unique. They serve high quality, never frozen burgers starting at just $7. 310 Station offers a historic indoor eating experience, in addition to a scenic outdoor one. They even have two pet-friendly eating sections. This is a great place to grab lunch with some friends, and they are also open for dinner. On Saturdays and Sundays, they even offer live music. Gluten free options are available, including corn shell substitutes for their highly popular fish and shrimp tacos. 310 Station is in a great location, right in downtown, and a short walking distance from a local park with a playground. The bike trail also runs right through their backyard if you want to stop off for a bite to eat on your ride.
